Sagittarius Horoscope for Saturday, January 17, 2015

Sunday, January 18, 2015 - Retail therapy is not usually an advisable path to happiness; however, there are times when spending money does feel good. Your current justification for making a purchase could be fabricated, especially if you want to take advantage of a bargain. It's worth taking some time to reconsider your actions. There's nothing wrong with buying a beautiful object; it's even better if the price is right. However, you don't need to stretch the truth to come up with false reasons for your self-indulgence. This is not about what anyone else likes; it's about acquiring something that touches your heart.

The Winter Warrior Workout Routine

When you’re training in the wintertime, you don’t have the resource of the great outdoors at your disposal. You’ve also gotta fill out sweatshirts and long sleeves, rather than T-shirts and tanks. There’s no doubt that a bulk phase is in order to make it happen. The catch is, that you don’t want to add a ton of fat in the process, and when it comes to the holiday season —the family get-togethers, corporate events, and dinners out on the town—it can mean you’ll be throwing a lot of bad food down the hatch.

4
Bend to Build Midsection Muscle

To build truly strong and eye-popping abs , you have to expand your ab-exercise repertoire. This month, we’ll show you a move that’s lasted more than 100 years, and for good reason. Arthur Saxon—an early-20th century strongman—used it to build his core to the point where he could perform staggering feats of strength, such as extending a barbell loaded with 370 pounds overhead with one arm, while bent at the hips to one side. Now known as the Saxon side bend, this core builder needs to enter your 21st century workouts.

5
Lift Doctor: Rotator Cuff Strength & Protection

You have a right to be concerned because shoulder injuries are very common in the gym. If you have been lifting for a while, you’ve probably had a shoulder injury at some point in time. ‘Tweaking’ your shoulder from getting out of position when benching, or extending your shoulders too far doing pull-ups is pretty common, especially if you try and push the intensity in your workouts.

7 Wheel Blasting Leg Workouts

But here’s the thing…if you dedicate yourself to training your legs with zeal, not only will you end up with diced, wide-swept thighs, but a bigger, leaner overall physique. How? Because the muscles in your legs constitute so much of your total body mass, the caloric expenditure as well as the resulting spike in growth hormone and testosterone create an ideal environment for improving your physique.

Power Surge: Chest Blast

This month I want to show you my chest workout, which serves as a perfect introduction to the concepts of power bodybuilding. Like a powerlifting workout, reps are kept low to allow you to use the heaviest possible weight. You’ll also rest 3–5 minutes between sets, letting you make a full recovery and continue lifting heavy throughout the session. The volume necessary to satisfy the bodybuilding portion of this equation comes from the number of total sets used; though you’ll do only four exercises in total, you’ll do 28 sets, including warmups. These workouts tend to run long (90-plus minutes) but allow you to chase everything you want at the same time. Get after it, Beast.

The Best Full-Body Muscle Workout

Any kind of pressing exercise will train your chest, shoulders, and triceps. Any pulling movement (a row or chinup variation) recruits your back, rear delts, biceps, and forearms. Squatting movements (and deadlifts, which aren’t quite a squat but require all the same muscles) take care of the quads, hamstrings, and glutes. Even your calves get some stimulation as they help to stabilize your squat. Your abs, of course, get worked on all these movement patterns, provided they’re done with free weights rather than machines, and work to brace your spine throughout. The workout at right contains everything you need to put on size fast—a squat, press, and pullup—done with heavy weights, and you should be able to wrap it up within 45 minutes.

Nine Eating Rules for Strong, Powerful Muscles

Most guys think they’ve cracked the dietary code for larger, stronger muscles: protein with a side of protein. Well, new research—especially on the connective tissue that holds your muscles together and connects them to bone—suggests it’s not that simple. Not only is all protein not created equal, but not all carbs are evil, liquid egg whites are an unnecessary evil, oysters are amazingly good for you, and one fish held in high, healthy esteem may actually be terrible for you.

10 Exercises That Suck

There's a simple rule of thumb for deciding whether to include an exercise in your workout: If it makes you look like a jackass, don't do it. Walk into any gym today (aside from the one I train people at, of course) and you're likely to see guys trying to isolate their "medial deltoids" with machines that look like something out of a medieval torture chamber, or struggling to balance on a ball like some kind of circus bear. Most of these people aren't getting bigger or stronger, and a lot of them are getting hurt. There's nothing wrong with varying your workout and performing a move that hits the muscles a little differently, but exercises that force you to work with extremely light weights, use over-complicated equipment that puts you at risk for injury, or make you feel like an idiot just aren't worth doing. That's why we've compiled this list of 10 exercises that absolutely suck, accompanied by better alternatives that promote a safer, more effective workout.

Cursing Is Useful, We Swear

Ongoing research at Keele U. shows that swearing is an actual f—king emotion—not just an off-color outburst. In the newest findings, subjects who felt riled up after playing a video game cussed more and faster than calmer subjects.“Swearing is an emotion, so it comes more easily— people are ‘better’ at it—when aroused,” says Keele’s Richard Stephens, Ph.D. It can also relieve pain, Stephens says, citing a test in which subjects allowed to swear were able to keep their hands submerged in ice water longer than those who had to watch their mouths. “It starts to explain why we swear,” says Stephens. “It gives us a release .” We can’t wait to tell Mom.

Teen Amateur of the Week: Alex's Love Of Lifting Gave Him Strength - Bodybuilding.com

I was always active as a child, but never really considered myself an athlete. I started karate when I was six, and eventually became a cross country and track runner from junior high onward through my senior year of high school. I liked being lean and had a strong core, but I used to look in the mirror and envision a larger, more muscular physique. Although running and karate taught me difficult lessons about perseverance and endurance, I wasn't able to pack on much mass due to my commitment as a distance runner. In the summer of my senior year of high school, I had stopped running and started losing my abdominals. I was becoming "skinny fat" and began lifting occasionally just so I wouldn't lose my old muscular definition.

4 Rules for Making a Muscle-Building Protein Shake

Using the whole fruit is a much better option that using fruit juice. When you use just the juice you miss out on all of the phytochemicals and fiber that the flesh and skin of fruits have in them. Using just the fruit juice also can add up to a lot of calories fast, with almost all of the calories coming in the form of sugar. The only way you should use any fruit juice is to mask the greens food flavor, if necessary, or to add a big burst of nutrients. Good “juice-only” tactics would be to add an ounce of tart cherry juice concentrate or pomegranate juice. These two juices provide a ton of antioxidants with fewer calories, so they do make the grade.

Ask Men's Fitness: How Can I Tell If My Girlfriend Is "Faking It"?

Truth is, she may be. Perhaps only on rare occasions, perhaps more often. The problem is, there’s no real way for you to know for sure. Even if you ask her, what’s she going to say? So instead of worrying about if she is or isn’t engaging in bedroom theatrics, focus on making sex as satisfying as possible. That’s what you’re really going for at the end of the day anyway, right? Ask her what positions she likes, how she enjoys sex the most (fast, slow, rough, soft), and what her fantasies are. See if there’s anything you could do better or more often. Be aware of how she’s responding to you. What are you doing at the times she seems really into it? What actions seem to excite her?

Squat Better: Master These Two Squat Variations First! - Bodybuilding.com

While goblet squats are great, they're not totally foolproof. If you're still struggling to stay upright while holding dumbbells and kettlebells, you may have better luck with landmine squats. Landmine squats are very similar to goblet squats in that they are anteriorly loaded, but in a landmine squat the bar travels in an arc. This helps reinforce the necessity of maintaining an upright torso, because if you come forward, the bar jams into your sternum.
