If you have the ability to set up pins in a squat rack you can use them at crucial points in your bench press, deadlift, and overhead press. For instance, set up the pins for your conventional deadlift where you pull the bar to the pins and then hold against the pins for 3-6 seconds of all-out effort. High Protein Sweet Potato Chili

In the pantheon of great all-purpose recipes, chili has to rank in the Top 10. It works as lunch, dinner, a snack, a side, and has so many variations that there’s something for everyone. Not to mention, if you have a slow cooker, it requires no cooking talent to make a delicious meal. (Note: I think everyone should own a slow cooker; has too much value and is possibly the easiest cooking device ever created.) You just need the wherewithal to throw ingredients in a pot 6 to 8 hours before you want to eat. Toss in the fact that you have to work to make it unhealthy, and it’s hard to argue against chili. Five Strategies to Beef Up Your Calves

The premise goes like this: point your toes inward while doing calf raises and you work your outer calves; point your toes outward and you work your inner calves. This is indeed true, but it’s too often overstated. In fact, no matter what direction you point your toes, you work the entire gastrocnemius when doing standing calf raises; you simply focus more emphasis on one area or another. The position of your toes is not as important as getting a full stretch and contraction for each rep —don’t stand so awkwardly that you limit your range of motion.

I’m thinking of going off the rails for a bit. I’ve done 7 cycles of 5/3/1 and it honestly feels like I’m just spinning my wheels for the most part. I mean, I’d like to think, at the very least, I understand the importance of progression. Gonna go a month or two without a fixed program and see how things go. That being said though, I’m a fairly structured person so I doubt my training will see overly random. There’s probably a pattern somewhere in there.

Why is no one doing the incline dumbbell curl? Though it can be slightly uncomfortable, the position of the elbows for this move blasts the long, outer head of your biceps, the one most responsible for your peak. That’s because this elbow position places a significant pre-stretch on that head that requires a harder contraction on each rep. For best results, use a weight that allows you to keep your upper arms perpendicular to the floor. And if you’re new to this move, go easy on the angle—even a slight angle can better engage that long head. If you have shoulder issues, take caution. To slightly alter the emphasis from this position, you can try incline hammer curls, you can use cables with a D-handle or you can take your hands out wider.
