The macros aren't GREAT, there is definitely more carbs, sugar, and fat than you'll find in most protein drinks...but what do you expect, these are cake bites. They do a fantastic job satisfying my cravings for something decadent; when I want a cupcake, bowl of ice cream, donuts, or slice of cheesecake these are my go to snack. They have the tendency (like many protein bars) to "sit heavy" in your stomach. My wife, and several of my friends feel nauseous after eating a whole serving, but they all agree the cake bites taste AWESOME. I have found splitting the pack through the day (one in the am, one in the afternoon, one in the evening) works well to alleviate the feelings of nausea for my wife and friends. The best way I can describe this pre-workout is that it doesn't hit too hard, but at the same time it hits hard enough to get the job done (with one serving). If one serving isn't doing much for you, then you can do two servings, but I would not recommend doing so on a day-to-day basis. The caffeine is in a nice sweet spot at 200-milligrams which is capable of providing me with a decent amount of energy to wake me up and get me through a workout.

How to do it: Stand tall with a dumbbell in each hand, arms to your sides. Put some slack in your knees so they’re in a neutral position, slightly bent. Extend one leg back; this non-weight-bearing leg should extend straight back until it’s parallel to the floor, while your planted leg remains engaged and planted firmly to the floor. Your weight-bearing knee should be neutral to just slightly bent to avoid hyperextension. Sink your arms toward the floor when you draw your elevated leg back, moving with the flow of gravity. Use your glutes to pull yourself back to the upright position.

There’s a modern-day reason most of us aren’t getting the 2,000 IU of vitamin D many experts say we need: We shun the sun . On average, it takes 10 to 30 minutes of midday UV exposure, without wearing sunscreen, to prompt your body to generate between 10,000 and 20,000 IU of vitamin D, says Dr. John Cannell, executive director of the nonprofit Vitamin D Council. But we can fall way short of that, even in the summer. “Most of us sit at a computer all day, then walk to and from our cars when the sun is too low to produce UV,” says Robert Heaney, an endocrinologist at Creighton University. “It doesn’t matter where you live. We’ve evaluated vitamin D statuses of hospital workers in Hawaii and Alaska, and they’re exactly the same.” Compounding this deficiency problem is the fact that, as you age, your body becomes less efficient at synthesizing the vitamin. According to a report from the Berkeley School of Medicine, a 70-year-old man synthesizes only about a quarter as much vitamin D as a 20-year-old who gets the same sun exposure.
