The Best 20-Minute Workout
101 Best Workouts Of All Time is the ultimate answer to the question "What workout should I do?" No matter what equipment you have available, from a fully-stocked supergym to a pair of mismatched dumbbells in your garage, or nothing but your body weight alone, you can build muscle, lose fat, and sculpt the physique you've always wanted.
5 Fat Loss Myths
The number one reason that people start to work out and improve their eating habits is to lose fat . Sure, everyone also wants to improve his or her health condition and get more physically fit but let’s be honest here: We all want to look better. Losing fat, improving your fitness level and health condition are usually all wrapped up into one. You lose fat, improve your fitness level and you will improve your overall health condition. The problem is that there is so much misinformation out there, leading to most people getting discouraged and quitting.
9 Foods that Should be in Your Refrigerator
You'll want to have these foods on hand to help support your muscle building efforts.
7 Muscle-Building Shakes
Each of the following shakes makes one serving and fits into a certain point on your schedule. One warning, though: After trying these, you may not be able to go back to plain protein powder and water ever again.
Big Ramy: Hammer It Out for Massive Biceps
Like King Kong rampaging in Manhattan, another foreign behemoth arrived in the Big Apple and caused a sensation this past year. Behold bodybuilding’s newest phenomenon, Mamdouh “Big Ramy” Elssbiay. Near the end of 2011, this 5'9" Egyptian weighed an ordinary 200 pounds and was just a “random dude in the gym.” Incredibly, he rapidly packed on enough muscle to dominate the Amateur Mr. Olympia the following year. Then, last May, the 28-year-old won his professional bodybuilding debut, the New York Pro, tipping the scales at a mind- jarring 288.
15 Best Bodyweight Exercises for Men
When you walk into the gym and every single bench and squat rack is taken by a bigger, stronger guy or by that “bro” doing curls in the squat rack, you could just turn around and walk out and say you’ll come back later. However, that isn’t an option when you’re trying to be your best you, because you know consistency is key. That one day off can lead to a week, which can lead to a month, and so on. Add these moves to your arsenal and watch the fat melt off your midsection all while building muscle, without skipping a day.
8 Foods That'll Never Make You Fat
You have our permission to chow down on these low-calorie foods with reckless abandon.
Back in Action for More Muscle Gain
The point is time under tension. The longer your muscles work, the more the body gets the message that it had better build them up to handle the stress. Of course, time isn’t the only consideration— otherwise, all marathon runners would have big legs. That’s where tension comes in. Combine long sets with moderate loads and you’ll get your muscles growing fast.
Coat a large nonstick skillet with cooking spray and heat over medium-high heat. Add onions and cook, stirring constantly, until tender. Mix in ketchup and next five ingredients.
7 Protein Myths
Lies, fabrications and outright fiction everywhere you turn — you might think you’re in the midst of a political convention. No, it’s just a general discussion about protein in an ordinary gym. At its core, protein is a simple nutrient. The amino acids from dietary protein represent the bricks that lay the foundation a body uses to create new muscle tissue; if you fall short of the appropriate protein intake, you won’t grow. Simple, see?

First, supplement with N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) . One of the stresses that alcohol places on your liver is antioxidant depletion. Metabolizing alcohol uses up glutathione, an amino acid that serves as one of the body’s strongest free-radical fighters. Taking 500–600 milligrams of NAC daily can help replenish antioxidants while clearing out toxic metabolites that are generated by the liver’s breakdown of alcohol.
Fact or Fiction?: Running Ruins Your Knees
Another interesting thing to note about the study: While doctors often advise older people to walk for exercise, running is just as smart an option. According to the research, when runners were asked to walk and then run on a 50-foot runway, running generated eight times the amount of impact on the knees as walking, but running required longer strides and reduced contact with the ground, offsetting the impact of all those intense foot strikes. So, over any given distance, the pounding on a person’s knees was about the same whether they ran or walked.
7 Ways to Improve Flexibility
Improving your bending ability is crucial for more than just preventing injury. In fact, flexibility training is an important aspect of gaining strength and size. The typical lifter spends most of their day outside of the gym hunched forward over a computer further deteriorating any chance at proper posture. Outside of just preventing injury, having better posture helps to show off the muscular physique you worked so hard to build. Proper flexibility also goes hand in hand with full range of motion exercises like squats and deadlifts, which are major muscle builders . Having tight hips and shoulders is a limiting factor for proper form on these exercises and can limit your program.
Its a good working app...sadly it doesn't do everything that it's suppose to do...prime example, when you want to read another magazine(month) other than the newest one, after you finish downloading it then the app keeps crashing! Haven't read a past magazine ever on this app...this is a problem, PLEASE fix.
The Number One Fat Loss Workout
Pairing up exercises that work opposite muscle groups (so they don’t compete with one another for recovery) burns more calories than traditional training with straight sets. For example, doing multiple sets of a chest exercise paired with sets of a back exercise shuttles blood back and forth between the working muscles, making your heart work harder. Increased heart rate means more calories burned, and training multiple areas of the body at once also leads to shorter, more intense, and more efficient workouts. Science backs it up. A 2010 study in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research found that noncompeting supersets led to greater energy expenditure relative to training time and subjects burned calories at an accelerated rate.
Jerry Ferrara Sheds His Shell
Before you start a movie, you have to go get a physical, and it’s literally a Hollywood physical. They just try to make sure you’re not dying. I don’t know anyone who has ever failed. When I went, it wasn’t the usual doctor, and he was just like, “You’re perfectly healthy—you’re just overweight—but you really should start losing it now because it’s going to be so much harder when you’re in your late 30s or 40s.” There was something so simple about it.
Kai Greene's Answer to Muscle Growth
No. There’s something to be said for just doing the damn thing. There are people out there who want to focus on every little detail, every gram of sodium and protein and carbs and whatever. It’s like they want to one-up the professional bodybuilders and say they know more about nutrition than the people onstage. Maybe they do. I’m not where I am because I know more about nutrition than everyone else on the planet. The top bodybuilders onstage are not there because they know more about training science and nutrition than the average person sitting in the audience. A lot of times the difference between the person onstage and the person in the audience is their use of the knowledge. The people onstage have the discipline; they put in the work. So don’t overthink things that shouldn’t be that complicated. Just do the damn thing. - FLEX
Healthier Eating Habits: Kickin' the Junk Food
Keep your carbs low prior to training. We want to take advantage of the post-exercise increase in insulin sensitivity. We’ll further mitigate this effect by somewhat depleting your glycogen stores prior to training. This means no carbs while training. You’ll lose some of the pump (but not much). That’s the price you’ll have to pay for wanting to snack on Skittles while staying lean. You’ll have plenty of carbs stored in your muscles to fuel your training , so don’t worry too much. Having slightly depleted glycogen will create a void that your post-workout snacks can fill.
The No-Bull Guide to Bulking
The Hard Truth Your body can only gain so much muscle in a given period of time; it’s dependent on your genetics, age, and training age (how long you’ve been lifting). According to Nate Miyaki, C.S.S.N., a San Francisco-based nutrition coach to physique competitors, a beginner in his teens up through his 30s can expect to put on two to four pounds of lean muscle per month for the first two or three months of his training. An intermediate (several months’ to a few years’ experience) might see 1–11⁄2 pounds per month. An experienced lifter, on the other hand, should be happy with just a few pounds per year.
The Complete Arnold: Chest
Dips are another exercise that people don’t seem to use for chest—most use it as a triceps move. But I’ve always felt that dips really flush the whole pectoral area and are great for building the lower pecs to give you that impressive, deep muscular ridge that separates the pecs from the abs. To build maximum size, you should definitely do weighted dips (I used to hang an 80-pound dumbbell from my weight belt and do sets of 15 reps). Make sure you go all the way down until you feel a good stretch in your chest for each rep, leaning your torso forward and keeping your knees back, and don’t feel as though you have to lock out your elbows at the top. As for dumbbell flyes, don’t stick to light weights. Many people assume that flye moves must be done with light weight. Why? How will you add size using 25-pound dumbbells? Pick up something heavier. You’ll be surprised at how much weight you can handle. I used to start of with 65-pound dumbbells for my fIrst set of 15 reps, then progress to 75s, then 85s, still keeping my reps between 10 and 15.

Failure in bodybuilding is good thing. Lift it until you cant lift it anymore.... regardless. One of the smartest things someone ever told me when I started was that I have to create the WANT and NEED for my muscles to grow. Training until failure induces your muscles NEED to grow. A proper diet and rest cycle shows you WANT them to grow. Set a goal to be the guy the new kids in the gym come in to watch work out.

Fiber helps with weight loss but, even if you like the number on the scale, fiber can help promote digestive health. Fiber also helps you feel fuller longer, and has been shown to regulate blood sugar and lower blood cholesterol. Nuts, apples, and even kiwis are rich in fiber, and just one tablespoon of chia seeds packs in six grams of the digestive aid. "Eating sufficient fiber each day is critical to your colon health, which is vital for keeping your immune system strong," explains Dymatize athlete David Morin.
7 Foods That Fight Sun Damage
The spotlight on sun damage is burning brighter today than ever before. Not only do we know more about the harmful effects of the sun, but also we have more information and products available to help fight back. Of course, keeping out of the sun, covering up exposed skin, and wearing a good sunscreen are your best bets for protecting yourself against harmful rays, but there is one line of defense you could be forgetting: your grocery cart. Whether you have a long day in the sun ahead of you, or you’ve already been burned, with the help of Maria-Paula Carrillo, M.S., R.D.N., L.D., we’ve listed seven foods that work from the inside out to help repair your skin and build up its defense against the sun.
Some supplements, when taken in large doses for a short period, might be just the thing for blasting through that plateau. Combining the following ingredients at the prescribed doses for one full week could give your muscles everything they are asking for and then some. Instead of the usual beat-down tactics, you’re taking an alternative route to the same end by jacking up your power and energy while igniting your growth triggers. It’s an opportunity to get back on the path to huge, which isn’t such a stellar word for Scrabble players, but it is a kick-ass word for bodybuilders.
Is 50 Cent's First-Pitch Really the Worst Ever?
50 Cent practically took over the internet when he misfired—to say the least—when throwing the opening pitch at the Pittsburgh Pirates-New York Mets game at Citi Field on Tuesday. The rapper and entrepreneur, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, launched a left-handed looper that sailed nearly 25 feet from Mets catcher Anthony Recker. People are saying it's the worst throw in the history of opening pitches. But is it really? Do you remember John Wall's throw that he pelleted into the dirt or the legendary first pitch by Baba Booey? We found some of the worst first pitches ever. We'll let you decide who tops the list.

How Much Do Online Fitness Plans Cost? - Born Fitness
So here’s the truth: I charge less than $200 per month for both fitness and diet plans. There’s some wiggle room based on what the client needs, but I’m about to drop my prices even more. This is far below the industry average when working with individuals (and not group plans), where prices typically go from about $249 to $500 per month. I’m not here to judge prices or cast any judgment. There are many great trainers doing incredible work, and I have no doubt they are worth it. But my model is different.

According to a new study, talking to yourself may be the extra boost you need to enhance performance. Researchers allocated subjects to either a control group or a self-talk group. All subjects first completed an incremental power test to establish peak power output andthe subjects were asked to cycle to peak exhaustion. For the self-talk test, they were reminded to use positive self-talk statements. When comparing the self-talk with no talk, there were no physiological differences between the groups in respect to heart rate at exhaustion, and blood lactate concentration sampled three minutes after exhaustion between the two groups. They found that the motivational self-talk increased time to exhaustion by 17.9% from pretest to post-test but not in the control group. The researchers also found that the self-talk group had lower psychological distress than the control group.

THE PROWLER 2:
Before the axer, pusher, wrecker, crusher, bitter, spider, bush hog, push sled, and a dozen others that have come and gone the Prowler 2 was the original and has stood the test of time for one reason...
It's the BEST!
The Prowler was originally designed to condition linemen. The low handles can be pushed from either direction- from the front or rear of the sled sled. When pushing from behind, the trainee is required to sink his or her hips extremely low to move the sled, or else the front ski will just sink into the ground. The Prowler 2 is the only push/pull sled on the market that is constructed to allow such variety of mobility.
The Prowler is now being used with all athletes from beginer to advanced. It has been profiled in every major fitness magazine, seen on various TV shows including The Biggest Loser and The Ultimate Fighter. It it also being used in virtually every NFL,NBA,NHL,NLB, and D1,2 and 3 University program. The Prowler 2 has made its place in many gyms, high schools, private training centers, garages, parking lots and parks across the USA and around the world.

Making Volcano Traps Erupt
Here’s the bad news: You can’t have great traps without them. Now for the good news: They’ll give you the thickest and highest traps possible. “Deads” are the perfect trapezius exercise, because they combine all total-mass principles for this fractious bodypart: maximum poundage, full range of motion, and intense stress on the traps through all dimensions and from top to bottom. As you start the lift, you’re bent over, which pulls your traps forward and stresses them over their entire area of mass, from bottom to top and side to side. As you raise your body, the stress moves progressively downward, from the top of your traps, across your rhomboids, pulling hard at the lateral extremities. At the top, you “lock out” the lift, shrugging your shoulders up and back, which serves as a peak contraction, especially for your upper traps. As you lower the weight, the entire process is reversed, but with the same beneficial effects. You can’t ask for more. Always do deads.

To be perfectly honest, when AMI/Weider signed Shawn “Flexatron” Rhoden in 2011, we didn’t expect him to have the kind of year he did in 2012—but then again, it’s pretty safe to say nobody else did either (except maybe Rhoden himself). After a disappointing start, Rhoden went on a tear, beginning with a win (his first) at the Europa Super Show, followed by another win at the Tampa Pro, a third at the Olympia, then two more “w’s” at the British Grand Prix and EVL’SPrague Pro before ending the season with a second at the Arnold Europe, to be the hands-down breakthrough athlete of 2012. Last year, Rhoden scaled back his contest count, doing only the Olympia and Arnold Europe, placing fourth both times. We’ll keep an eye out for Flexatron and stay tuned to all his activities this year.
