Sagittarius Horoscope for Friday, May 20, 2016

Friday, May 20, 2016 - You may be overly sensitive to the cosmic tides these days; progress is too slow for your taste now that Mars and Saturn are backpedaling in your sign. However, the emphasis could be on someone else while the Gemini Sun sheds light on your 7th House of Partnerships, setting up a dilemma between your internal and external worlds. Consider ways to express your own needs while still honoring the most significant relationships in your life. Being true to yourself doesn't mean that you must ignore everyone else.

5 Things to Never Say on a First Date

If you've recently gotten out of a longtime relationship, you'll probably find yourself starting conversations (no matter who you're talking to) with "Christie and I used to always..." or "I remember when Tiffany...". That has to stop—immediately. For starters, a potential love interest doesn't want your former love interest brought up in conversations right off the bat. This is about the two of you. And if you can't stop talking about your ex, it's obvious the feelings are still there.

Live It, Love It

A great thing was the pace of my progress, and the time I allotted to it was of my own making. That’s what I urge each FLEX reader to do. Set your own goals, apportion the correct time to work for those goals and then enjoy! I can think of no better way to embrace life than to bodybuild. The act of building and strengthening one’s muscles through training and sound eating habits is an affirmation of the miracle of the human body itself. Ways to do that are abundant in the pages of FLEX. In this month’s issue, for instance, we have a feature on Mark Dugdale and Troy Alves training for a classic V-taper physique; an article on the lowdown on which supplements will boost the effects of a lowcarb diet; and the continuation of the Brute Strength Program and its radical approach to muscle and power gains.

Things You Don’t Do In The Gym Part 2

So you’ve been working out for three months? This does not make you an expert or a trainer. So do not pretend to be one. Don’t go around telling people what’s wrong with their workouts, or what they should be doing instead. You could seriously injure someone if they do take your advice, and if they don’t you just look like an idiot preaching to people about things you don’t know. You will give other trainers a bad name and could hurt the business of some by displaying improper movements to people and in turn causing them to lose faith in the help of others. If training is something you want to do, take the time to learn the proper form and movements. Go to school and get a degree, do a job shadow, and get certified. Even then you are still new to things, so start off slow and work within the boundaries of your experience and branch out from there.

How To Burn Fat

Cut back on carbs : Remember how insulin has the biggest impact on fat storage? Well, carbs have the biggest impact on insulin. ”Too many carbohydrates leads to a spike in the hormone and then to more fat storage,” Seedman explains. Not only should you cut back on carbs, but your insulin will spike even more from processed ones, so cut any carb that’s not a whole grain or from real produce completely. And don’t worry: Carbs are traditionally thought of as your body’s main source of energy, but your body also has the ability to fuel from fat, so if you’re increasing your fat and protein intake, your body doesn’t need as many carbs to run. You still need some amount of carbohydrates to regulate certain biological processes, like your muscles’ ability to stay hydrated and maintain structural integrity, so don’t cut the macronutrient completely, Seedman warns. For a high-fat, low-carb diet, aim for at least .5 of your bodyweight (so a 200 lb person would eat at least 100 grams of carbs per day), he suggests. For a more balanced calorie-restricted diet, that number jumps to .75 to 1.5 grams per pound of bodyweight.

The Go Small to Get Big Arms Workout

Take a look at the workout below. The first exercises you’ll see on each training day are relatively big arm movements like weighted bench dips, skull crushers, and barbell curls. The lighter stuff comes last, when your arms are too spent to do much more. Gaining mass and size is all about priorities, and if your objective is to build bigger arms, start with big moves and finish with smaller ones.

21
Shoulder and Back Attack

Wilmore’s back training focuses mainly on movements for thickness, since he feels he has more than enough width at this point. “Early in my training, I did plenty of chins and wide-grip lat pulldowns,” Wilmore remembers. “I still do those movements, but they take second billing to free-weight rowing exercises. The more mass and thickness you have in your back, the deeper the separation and detail once you diet down. That adds a three-dimensional quality to it.”

Additionally, in an attempt to dazzle you with numbers, some lopsided amino formulas drop the amounts of Valine and Isoleucine in favor or Leucine - a critical mistake - which ends up smothering some other very important benefits. For one, Valine competes with Tryptophan for uptake into the brain, and a brain soaked in Tryptophan will have a much hard time relaying the message to the muscles that they need to work harder and push more weight. Furthermore, in a Japanese study, scientists observed a fat-burning mechanism dependent upon Isoleucine. Subjects who consumed more supplemental Isoleucine gained less body fat than those who did not, even though both groups ate a high-fat diet.

Tip: Build Your Chest With Bands & Iron | T Nation

The barbell bench press has its place, but dumbbell benching has a few advantages over the bar. Bench pressing with dumbbells allows you to work stabilizer muscles that are ignored by benching with a bar. It also gives you a great opportunity to really work the pecs hard at the top of each and every rep with certain variations. Want to really ramp up the dumbbell bench press? Add bands.

Tip: Find Out If You're Insulin Sensitive | T Nation

Some experts use very simplistic recommendations for testing insulin sensitivity, methods I disagree with. For example, I've heard the statement that if you have an apple-shaped physique or if you get sleepy after a carb meal then you're insulin resistant (insensitive). These are way too non-specific and tell you very little about your nutrient needs or if you're making progress. I prefer methods that, although more time consuming, are objective.

10 Exercises to Develop the Best Pecs in the Gym

"If you currently work out 3 days a week, you can hit your chest every workout," Perry says. "The goal," he adds, "is to hit your pecs just enough so you can recover in time for your next workout." The sweet spot is a total of 5 sets with a compound movement. (You can also consider adding a finisher after each workout such as a few sets of cable crossovers, pec deck, pushups, wide-grip dips, or racked kettlebell carries to failure—more on those in the slides that follow.) Perry suggests aiming for 5x12 reps of a compound chest move—like a bench press variation—first when you're adding them to a full-body routine (you may only get to five reps on the last set which is fine); if you're trying to build a bigger chest, you want to hit these muscles when you're fresh to see the fastest results and biggest impact.

3-Day Ab Workout for a Shredded Six-Pack

That’s it. Designing your core workouts with exercises that fit these categories is all you’ll ever need to build strong abs and an injury-resistant lower back. They can be used as a single progression—one month you could focus only on pure stabilization, work on dynamic movements the next month, and then finally do integrated stabilization exercises the month after—or as a separate focus on each of your training days. I recommend doing all core exercises, except the ones in the integrated stabilization category, first in your workouts, before you train other muscle groups.

10 Best Workouts for Weight Loss

When you’re looking to drop lbs, the basic formula is pretty simple: eat less and move more. But, there are obviously ways you can optimize this formula. When it comes to the moving part, “Two types of workouts will burn more calories than the 'traditional' workout,” says Franklin Antoian, personal trainer and founder of the online personal training website, iBodyFit.com . “Endurance-type workouts—think a marathoner or long-distance swimmer—burn a lot of calories, simply because it takes a lot of energy to work out for 2 hours or so.” The other type is a little easier on your schedule: short, high-intensity bouts, which burn calories both during and after, thanks to that metabolism-boosting effect known as the “afterburn.” These 10 workouts—from Antoian and coach Lisa Reed, MS, CSCS, owner of Lisa Reed Fitness in the DC area—get your calorie burn up and your waist size down. Plus, they don't require two hours—except for maybe the last one!
