Sagittarius Horoscope for Monday, August 8, 2016

Monday, August 8, 2016 - Rediscovering your life purpose takes precedence today, whether it's more of the same or an entirely different ballgame. In either case, your legendary visionary outlook inspires others to tell you their dreams. The good news is you have a clear sense of who you are, a viable plan in place and feel as if nothing can stand in your way now. Just remember to take it slowly or you will expend so much energy that you won't have any later on when you need it for a second wind. As President Theodore Roosevelt wrote, "With self-discipline, most anything is possible."

Top 10 Moves for Fast Pec Growth

This article has a very simple purpose - to discuss my favorite exercises for building a massive, thick, gnarly, complete chest . I am not going to talk about techniques, tempos, and  time under tension , or mention muscle origins, insertions, genetics or hormonal manipulations. I simply want to go over my top 10 pec-punishers and why they should be a part of your chest building program.

7 Curls for Bigger Biceps

To develop an impressive set of biceps you need to target the muscles from every angle. That’s right, we said muscles. The biceps brachii (long and short heads), as well as the medial head and brachioradialis (forearm) must all receive some (tough and exhausting) love in order for you to achieve attention-grabbing guns. How do you do that? With proper exercise selection and rotation, and consistently altering things like rep speed, weights used, and sets completed.

4 The 6 Worst Exercises for Heavy Lifting

At some point, if you want to build a no-nonsense physique you are going to have to lift some heavy pig iron.As discussed in a previous article, this can be done safely, but only with certain exercises. It all comes down to movement selection—performing the wrong moves can be unsafe and a good way to get acquainted with a local orthopedic surgeon.

6 Moves for Sick Lats

Pullups are not easy – the mechanical advantage is poor even in when you are in good position. Cheating them, while a fair thing to do on the last rep or two of each set, will not improve your long-term strength or size. Since the lats are a large muscle group that needs to be hit from different angles, you need to use a full range of motion across a variety of exercises. Pullups also require the contribution of dozens of smaller, contributing muscles which is good news – it means that consistent training will lead to rapid strength gains in the short term and more total muscle gains down the road.

Top 5 Chests of the 1970's

1. FRANCO COLUMBU : The most remarkable thing about Columbu’s pecs was the cleft between the upper and lower sections, which made it seem as if his outrageously developed upper pecs were completely different muscles (they’re not). The second most remarkable thing was their dimensions from side to side and top to bottom. The Sardinian stood only 5'5", but his pecs would’ve been at home on 6'5" Ferrigno. The breadth of Columbu’s pecs was a genetic gift aided by his wide clavicles, but their thickness came from thousands of sets on flat and incline benches. At under 200 pounds, the former powerlifter and two-time Mr. O (1976, 1981) bench pressed 525, and his frequent chest workouts emphasized the barbell basics. He credits barbell bench presses and barbell incline presses for building what may have been the best chest ever.

The Truth About the 7-Minute Workout

Another issue is that these exercises are all bodyweight moves. That’s not to say bodyweight exercise can’t be effective. I’ve seen enough crazy YouTube videos to know that bodyweight moves does a body good. And they are also extremely convenient for anyone without access to a gym. But the greatest benefit of high intensity training—not to mention the circuit training study mentioned–wasn’t performed with bodyweight exercises; they were done with added resistance, says Schoenfeld, where the weight could be manipulated to correspond to a given rep-max. (In other words, a percentage of your max strength.) The use of bodyweight does not afford this benefit, and for those who are fairly fit it would be difficult to achieve a consistent maximum level of intensity for 30 seconds that would compare to doing a similar length of time with added resistance. To use the squat example: Doing 80% of your 1-rep max on squats for a similar period of time would be much more difficult than doing 7-minutes of bodyweight squats.

Stop Lying About Your Overhead Press | T Nation

The tucked hip position and core bracing intrinsic to rollouts are essentially a horizontal version of an overhead press pattern. The second you lose neutrality of the lower spine during this movement, you'll feel it in the form of discomfort in the low back. Get a strong, technically sound rollout and you'll be well on your way to strong pressing.

The Best Bodyweight Exercises for Your Chest

If you're looking to make your pecs pop, you probably think you need a barbell or, at least, some heavy dumbbells. But, that's not just not the case. There are plenty of great moves you can do without any equipment at all—and some that can be done using your own bodyweight and a TRX or band. While these exercises are great for attacking your chest—the pectorals major and minor—they'll also help get your deltoids, triceps, abs, and more muscles in on the action.  In other words, the following moves, courtesy of Andia Winslow , Professional Athlete, Sports Performance Coach, and Founder of Winslow Way Conditioning, will help you get that chest you'll want to show off on the beach this summer—and carve the rest of your body. Combine them for the ultimate Chest Day bodyweight workout. Or, sprinkle a few in to your total body routine.

Build Muscle Mass While Preventing Joint Damage

Bodybuilding is all about mass: building more muscle mass means lifting more mass in the gym. No bones about it, you must train heavy to get huge. Just take a look at the poundage hoisted by some of the sport’s biggest pros, such as Ronnie Coleman, Markus Rühl and Dorian Yates. These guys train hard and heavy and it shows. The irony of training with a lot of mass to put on muscle mass is that it has the opposite effect on joints. Lifting heavy weights actually reduces the mass of cartilage.

Arnold Schwarzenegger's Secret to Tree Trunk Legs

Arnold’s early training wasn’t sufficiently high in volume. “For many years, I did only five sets of squats when I really should have been doing eight…[and] I did not put enough weight on the leg-press machine,” he said. “Once I realized my mistakes and corrected them, my thighs began to grow thick and massive.” At his peak, Arnold did at least 20 working sets for legs and took each set except his warm-ups to failure. This high-volume approach helped him put on the size and build the strength (his best was a 400-pound squat for eight reps) that turned around a weak bodypart.

40
4 Weeks to Massive Muscle Program

You’ll train chest and triceps the day after legs. After hitting the meat of the chest with flat-bench barbell presses, you’ll immediately attack the pecs from the same angle with dumbbells. And similar to how you alternated between squat variations for legs, each time you train chest, perform a different angle (flat-bench in week 1, incline in week 2, decline in week 3 and flat-bench again in week 4) first in the rotation, starting with the barbell version, then following that up with dumbbells. You’ll end chest day with an isolation move (cable flye) to finish things off with an incredible pump before moving on to triceps. Your triceps training will involve bread-and-butter exercises performed in the traditional hypertrophy rep range (8-12) to pack maximum mass onto the upper arms.

7 Ways to Grow

THE PRESCRIPTION   Eat at least 30% of your total daily calories from fat — 10% saturated fat, 10% monounsaturated fat and 10% polyunsaturated fat — with the majority being omega-3 fats. Eat fruits and veggies for their polyphenols and fiber, but don’t skimp on fat, because it is essential for making steroid hormones — and testosterone is one of the key anabolic steroid hormones. Saturated fat is particularly important, so don’t skimp on beef, either. In fact, a study from Penn State (University Park) found that weight-trained males eating low amounts of saturated fat had significantly lower levels of testosterone than those eating higher amounts of saturated fat.

Bodybuilder's Guide to BCAAs

Before creatine, arginine and whey protein ranked supreme as popular bodybuilding supplements, the branched-chain amino acids were the hot ticket for bodybuilders. Today, BCAAs are back on the must-have list of supplements because bodybuilders have found that they work well to enhance muscle growth, strength, energy and even fat loss. If you’re not using them, here’s your guide to why you should.

44
Raise the Bar

Follow the standard practice of doing barbell bench presses first in chest workouts to maximize the amount of weight you bench press and therefore the amount of overload on the chest. Afterward, move to dumbbell presses to better focus on the pecs without the triceps being the weak link. This study sets the barometer for how much weight you should be able to use on dumbbell bench presses — 80% of your barbell bench-press weight. If you’re under this mark, work more on your dumbbell bench presses; if you are over, then work on your barbell bench presses. - FLEX
