8 Injections That Heal Injuries | T Nation

Thankfully, we now have many more injection options available to us to help speed up the healing of injuries. In an ideal world, you could go to your local walk-in clinic to request any one of these injection methods and have it covered by your health insurance plan. Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. These are specialized procedures that require specialized doctors to perform them and one, in fact, is more of an underground thing that you'd have to initiate on your own.

A lot of people think of this as a hamstring move, but if you're going heavy you'll know the brutalization they cause for the erectors, lats, and entire upper back. This is a total back movement. However, when you make big changes, stick with them for at least three months to see if they work for you. When you make wholesale changes to your training frequently, it's hard to pinpoint exactly what's working. You'll never know for sure if you keep swapping things around all the time. Ask yourself, "Did I get a better pump? Did I get a better mind-muscle connection? Did I see more development Am I getting stronger?" If the answer is "no" over time, then go on to something else.

5 Bad Habits That are Ruining Your Training Results

While it is true that sleep does lower your metabolism, sufficient sleep is mandatory to derive maximum results from your workout. If you have been getting less sleep, or sleeping at odd hours, the chances are, your body is getting a shorter recovery span from your workout. Shorter recovery phases lead to lesser benefits of the workout. Moreover, lack of sleep makes you feel tired, depressed, and you often end up eating more to counter these feelings of agitation. Our body recharges itself when we sleep and we wake up feeling more energetic, consequently working out better. The opposite happens when we don’t get enough sleep. So, get sufficient sleep at proper hours to receive the benefits of your workout.

The Arnold Schwarzenegger Era Diet

For the young people of today, Arnold's impact on bodybuilding is underappreciated. He is thought of by some youths as being ancient history, or an actor who started in bodybuilding. It is important to realize that if he had not achieved a level of unprecedented greatness in his time, the motivation and standards for other competitors would not have been as extreme. He and his contemporaries learned to manage food through observation, trial and error, and communication with their peers. Along with relatively primitive protein powders, they demonstrated that achieving an enviable physique is possible through basic nutrition and discipline. Of course, the muscular strength and mass were augmented by the use of anabolic steroids. However, these gains were possible by sitting down at the table rather than shaking and stirring whey shakes, along with handfuls of capsules. Their diets were low-glycemic load diets, high in protein, and rich in fruits and vegetables. This is a practical approach for natural and enhanced bodybuilders, as well as those wishing to manage their weight for health purposes.

15 best and worst wireless workout headphones of spring 2017

The quick and dirty: The Urbanears Stadion in-ear Bluetooth headphones give you the ease of going wireless in a unique-looking package. Soft, stretchy coils make up the "wire" connecting the two ear pieces. And while the Stadion may not be the most stylish earbuds around—at least in our opinion—they do solve the problem of having excess wire hitting your neck or having to clip anything in place. The control panel sits at the back of your neck, so switching songs or changing volume is a bit cumbersome, but because it's not at the front, it won't yank the earbuds out. And the buttons are largely defined so you can actually tell what you're pressing. You'll get seven hours of play time on a single charge. And if you like to work out at night, there are reflective details to keep you visible.

Evolution of Fat Loss

There’s a lot more to dropping bodyfat than just the numbers. In fact, if we were to stubbornly remain steadfast to the mathematical model for bodyfat management, then dieting for a bodybuilding contest would be little more than an exercise in pushing the buttons on a calculator. Bodybuilders would resort to running the numbers, always trying to cut 3,500 calories from their diets with little regard for other elements that play a bigger role in dropping fat.

Less Is More

Training twice a week is more than enough for any bodypart, particularly biceps, which is a small muscle group. In fact, to my way of thinking, hitting biceps two times per week constitutes overtraining. If you truly fatigue a muscle during your workout, then it should require about a week to recuperate adequately before training it again. Still, I see so many guys training their biceps several times a week, with the same kind of work they put into their chest training, then they wonder why they’re constantly stuck at a plateau.

An Oscar for 'Best Fitness Trainer'? Reebok president says yes.

“Why not reward the people who keep our role models in peak condition?” O’Toole asks. “They’ve crafted their expertise on the playing field, in their garage gyms, and even defending our country. Their diverse backgrounds mean they are not traditional movie heroes, but ask any motion picture star and they will tell you, these are the people who power the scenes and stories fans love so much. Let’s call attention to this group and reward their hard work with the rigors of other motion picture crafts. No longer will these be the unsung heroes of summer blockbusters but instead role models for fans everywhere.”

7 cutting-edge health and fitness gadgets to demolish your goals in 2017

The cutting-edge tool to gauge body changes during training is 3-D body scanning—tech so new, it’s been available only at fancy fitness clubs and health centers. Till now: San Francisco startup Naked Labs has developed a home scanner—a full-length, Internet-connected mirror with a turntable/scale that in only 20 seconds provides a full infrared 3-D scan of your body symmetry and the circumference of your body parts, and calculates body fat with +/-2.5% accuracy. (That’s almost as good as the gold standard dunk-tank test.) The grayscale 3-D image and data go straight to a smartphone app, providing updates on your progress (or lack of) in remaking your body. Dwayne Johnson's Famous Arm Tattoo Gets a Facelift

Evolution of the bull. Blood, sweat & years. After 3 sessions and 22hrs of tattooing with world renowned @NikkoHurtado, the story's almost done.. Every detail is a reflection of my own personal history. From the cracks and heavy damage in the bone representing life's hard lessons I've learned over the years. Just like scars and wrinkles - I'm so grateful to have 'em because they're earned. To the horns, not pointing up or out to the side, but pointing straight ahead representing relentless energy and forward progress. The core and anchor of this image is in the eye. Look closely and you'll find the life, energy, power and you'll feel the MANA (spirit). The eye tells the story of a disruptive positive energy always ready to dent the universe. Depending on the light and angle, sometimes the energy's subtle and sometimes it's glaring. But it's always alive and ready to disrupt the universe and love and protect my family and all things I love with intense passion and gratitude. Cheers to living, learning, evolving and growing. And to the positive disrupters ready to dent the universe.

The 10 Most Attractive Body Parts Ranked by Women

Now that that’s out of the way, here’s a roundup—in no particular order—of the features women love on a guy; not just the body parts, but what specifically about them appeal to women. You can sculpt some in the gym, but others have already been fated by genetics (sorry). Either way, this will give you some insight on what females prefer. Hint: you’ll quickly find women are not much different than men.

The best exercise for each muscle according to science

First things first: “These studies are looking at which exercise in isolation causes the most activity in a particular muscle,” says Jessica Matthews, M.S., exercise science professor at Miramar College in San Diego, CA and senior advisor for health and fitness education for the American Council on Exercise. “But that doesn’t mean they’re the best exercise.” Your goals are a better guide of what exercises are right for you; if your end-all is bigger muscles and symmetry (say, as a bodybuilder), then, yes, incorporating these into your routine makes a lot of sense. If you’re more interested in increasing your overall fitness, though, you may be better served choosing exercises that improves the body’s function, i.e., how it moves on a daily basis. “And if you’re someone who only has time to train two to three times per week, it’s essential to have a well-rounded routine to train the whole body in one workout.” That said, here are the goods, according to science.

12 Laws of Fat-Burning

No question about it, burning fat is a 24/7 endeavor. To keep the fires hot, you need to eat every 2-3 hours throughout the day. Not only that, but you must choose the right foods in the right amounts to keep your metabolism revved up so your six-pack will be ready for its close-up. The way we see it, there are 12 fundamentals - laws, if you will - that are all you need to shed that unwanted blubber from your midsection and elsewhere. Most of them are nutrition-driven, but training comes into play as well. Your mass-gaining phase is over for the time being; now it's time to get lean. These 12 laws of fat-burning will help get you there.

2017 Summer Shred: Workout Program

This program dispels the notion that lifting  heavy is exclusively for strength gains. And while chasing one-rep maxes won’t pave the way to massive muscles, heavy lifting is important for two reasons: First, a stronger muscle can handle more reps and more weight. And since your muscles need a new challenge to adapt to grow—like more reps lifted or heavier weight on the bar—the ability to lift heavier weight for more reps will translate to more inches on your muscles over time. Second, hoisting serious poundage with compound movements like the deadlift, squat, and bench press triggers a greater release of testosterone, a key hormone that’s responsible for the growth and recovery of your muscles. The cluster sets we programmed will allow you to lift weight close to your one-rep max—and for more reps than you would normally be able to accomplish. How? By breaking up the sets into subsets (more on cluster sets below). The effect is a greater accumulation of volume and a bigger release of testosterone, which will prime your body to more efficiently build muscle and oxidize—nerd speak for burn—fat.

Deadlift Technique Update

Anyway, I get what you are saying. After exams you could try pushing the volume back up. As for DL technique work, you could try something like 80% of your top single x8 singles. If you have excellent technique then you could theoretically make good progress just by working up to a heavy single (or triple, or set of 5…) once a week but in your case you definitely need the practice. And don’t take this as me “talking down” to you or something, I’m doing the same thing. At the moment I have deadlift (top set for reps plus backoff singles) and RDL on one day and a lighter squat workout followed by double paused deadlifts (pause just off the floor and under the knees) for technique work. I have figured that my technique is my biggest weakness with the deadlift, improving my technique is the main thing I need to do to get my pull over 600.

5 unusual nutrition tips that will help you shed fat

Eating more food to lose more fat might sound counter-intuitive, and it's true that losing overall weight depends on a net calorie deficit. The Chin-Up Project | T Nation

Palms facing each other, as used when you do chins with a V-bar attachment or parallel chinning bars – will place more emphasis on the brachialis. This underlying muscle "pushes up" the biceps and makes your overall upper arm bigger. If your brachialis has been neglected, and it probably has, bringing it into play will result in rapid size increases, sometimes even up to an inch in upper arm size.

Top 5 Natural Supplements for Better Sex

Ginseng , known as the natural Viagra, has a strong reputation for improving sex drive—and for good reason. As one of the most popular herbal medicines in the world, millions of people supplement with the root plant to treat a variety of health conditions from inflammation, to low immune function, to stubborn weight gain—and, of course, sexual dysfunction. A 2008 review of 28 clinical studies suggested that powered Korean red ginseng increased sexual arousal and treated erectile dysfunction in men. Additionally, research conducted by the Department of Physiology at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine showed that ginseng can directly facilitate erections by relaxing erectile tissue and increasing blood flow.

The Paleolithic Diet for Bodybuilders

Our ancient ancestors didn’t have access to crops, convenience stores, or fast-food restaurants. They were limited to consuming the plants and animals they could hunt or gather. This meant that the bulk of their diet consisted of large amounts of meat (when it was available), and otherwise they subsisted on plants—wild berries, certain greens, and often bugs (although bugs aren’t an emphasized part of the contemporary Paleolithic diet). What was absent from our ancestors’ diets were grains, large amounts of sugar, and processed starches.
