Add Sandbag Training to Your Workout

What specifically do you do with sandbells? Just about everything. We do farmer’s walks, rotational twists or throws. We’ll do chest passes, which is the same as the basketball chest pass. Overhead throws, where you have the weight extended overhead and you take a step forward, squeeze through the abs, and then torque your upper body and throw. But probably our best move is the slam. It’s something I don’t think a lot of people are doing. You extend the sandbell overhead with both hands in a triple extension - meaning everything is extended up as high as you can go. Then you squeeze your abs as tight as you can and then very forcefully throw the sandbell to the ground as if you’re trying to throw it through the ground. It’s a very violent motion in which your body works like a whip. It really works your core.

The Once-A-Week Strength Solution

Too many lifters forget the acceleration part—we want nasty speed. Think mind- movement connection, not mind-muscle connection. Perform this routine once a week in addition to your normal body part split to continue adding pounds to the bar on the rest of your bodypart-specific lifts. Not surprisingly, this routine is built on the Big 3 – the squat, bench press and deadlift. Simply perform this routine once a week on the day of your choosing. Looks like you’ll have one less rest day in your weekly split!

Get Ripped Abs with the Ultimate Core Workout

So, in essence, just performing these exercises alone provides a great core workout. Though neither a Swiss or Bosu ball is absolutely necessary for a fully developed core, each can be a highly useful tool that you can work in as a supplement to your main lifts. If you have a pre-existing lower-back problem, a Swiss ball might allow you to train your abs without aggravating it. The ball also allows you to move through a greater range of motion than a crunch done on the floor would. Furthermore, you can perform certain upper-body exercises on it, such as chest presses, which will fire up the core and prepare you for stronger benching when you return to the conventional bench press.

Fast Starts

Making a huge first impression is one of the hardest things to do in pro bodybuilding. Each year a new crop of rookies joins the IFBB Pro League, still basking in their amateur success. But the moment they step on a pro stage their expectations change. Almost all of them watch veterans pose in first callouts. Many will wait a torturously long time to hear their numbers called. However, there are rare exceptions. Check out the list of the 16 men who won their debuts in professional open IFBB contests since 1978 (the first year of an expanded pro schedule). It illuminates just how rare Mamdouh Elssbiay’s accomplishments were last year and how unique Phil Heath’s two-for-two was in 2006. Spoiler alert: They’re the only two men from the past two decades on our countdown of the 10 best rookies of all time. That just goes to show you how difficult it is to make a big first impression in the big league.

On Her A-Game: Asia Monet Ray Chats With Us About New Show "Raising Asia!" And New Album!

First, I would wish for a cure for cancer. Second, that everyone could have their dreams come true like mine have. Last, I’d like a two dogs…or a thousand since I’m wishing! (I asked if there was any leeway with the number of dogs, but she was firm on either “2 or 1000″. I wondered if she’d have time for so many dogs, to which she quickly quipped that she had time for her birds. I mentioned that dogs are a bit more responsibility because you don’t have to walk your birds. The thought of walking her birds intrigued her so much that I think she wanted to change one of her wishes!)

The second worst time is to eat high-carb foods for breakfast, such as cereal, OJ, or bread. High-carb foods stimulate a pathway in the brain called the hypocretin network that makes you sleepy and slows the body’s use of energy. The combination of high insulin and activation of the hypocretin neurons triggers greater food intake over the course of the day.

Ronda Rousey Guns for The Rock

I refuse to put limits on myself. I don't do anything half-assed. I don't care if you're the heavyweight champion of the UFC--I'll never say I can't beat you, because that puts limits on me. The Rock came from WWE and was the highest-grossing actor in the world last year. I don't think it's unrealistic for me to set goals like that for myself as well. I've already had two championship fights since making my first movies, so I've proved that I can do both.

Breaking Bad

There are hundreds of possible issues that could reduce the effects of your training program. You’ve likely run the gamut, from feeling under the weather to a specific workout-limiting injury to a busy schedule, that’s kept you out of the gym. Unfortunately, there aren’t any miracle pills or magic remedies for those kinds of issues. But if you’re experiencing setbacks from training-related issues, the miracle cure is sitting right in front of you. Most often, we’ve either pushed too hard or not hard enough. At times we’ve dropped of training and yet other times we just simply failed to do something that we should have. It’s time to break your bad, and put some good back in to your program.

Foods That Prevent Hair Loss

All three of these B vitamins are essential to the normal formation of hemoglobin, which carries oxygen from the lungs to tissues in the body, including the hair. Healthy and strong hair relies on a constant supply of blood and oxygen. A deficiency of these B vitamins is like cutting off the blood supply to your hair, leading to increased hair loss, damaged hair and slow re-growth. Best sources of vitamin B6 and B12 are protein-rich foods like meat, chicken, fish, eggs, pork and soybeans. Your best bet for sources of folic acid are leafy vegetables, orange juice, avocado, beets, broccoli, wheat germ and some fortified cereals. 10 Dos and Don'ts for Better-Looking Skin>>>
